Basic details and main features
Gemini New Moon, 27th May 2025, 03:02 UTC, 6+ Gemini
Among the more immediately obvious characteristics of this week’s New Moon chart is the abundance of planets in Aries and Gemini. It is not unusual, at least, for the current Sun sign to be busy, what with Mercury and Venus always relatively close by. The large stellia in these two particular signs, however, alongside the comparatively low occupancy of Earth and Water areas, speak to a potential imbalance of energies asking to be acknowledged and addressed.
Fire (like Aries) and Air signs (such as Gemini) are in the broadest sense characterised as active, or rather inclined towards action; and positive, in the sense of clear conviction. Each sign expresses those qualities differently; the two in question, arguably, also both move with a certain rapidity. As with pretty much all astrological traits, this can be incredibly helpful in some situations, and rather less so in others; likewise, as we have recently had no lack of opportunity to note, moderation and counterweights are usually more constructive than unmitigated extremes.
An on-the-nose conjunction between Chiron and Eris in this chart appears especially to underline the call for balance. Eris is by nature impulsive and chaotic, reacting hastily to a situation without necessarily understanding it fully. Chiron at its best takes into account all circumstances, and is calm and measured, planning for the good of all, and reminding us that immediate reprisal or gratification is rarely the most constructive aim.
It might currently seem as if (so to speak) the wind is blowing in a highly specific direction, prompting us to rush forward without delay; I suspect, however, that this New Moon may be inviting us at minimum to take time for reflection, ground ourselves, and listen to our bodies and hearts, which offer better information than late-stage capitalism would have us believe. Slow down where and when you can, and let them speak.

Some minor planets involved
Conjunct New Moon:
- (275) Sapientia – Very large C-type main-belt asteroid, named for the Roman personification of wisdom. Associations indicate themes specifically surrounding the dissemination of knowledge, art, exploration and return to base, prognostication and progress, alongside wisdom itself.
- (432) Pythia – Typical main belt asteroid identified with the widely respected priestess and oracle of Apollo at Delphi, consulted for many centuries. Potentially represents mature handling of prophetic energy, including knowledge of when to do nothing; correspondences imply a profound gravity and depth to the responsibility conferred; custodianship of elemental or primal power; the necessity of self-knowledge and self-control.
- (700) Auravictrix – Flora family asteroid named for the first Schütte-Lanz zeppelin flights in 1911 (lit. Latin for ‘victory against the wind’). The Schütte-Lanz company was an early competitor of the more famous airships built by Ferdinand von Zeppelin. Sabian symbol is evocative of guidance towards progress or a higher state of consciousness, embodied perhaps in a literal sense by the technological development after which this asteroid was named. May also indicate one forward step preparing the way for the next; the pursuit of excellence and its varied manifestations.
- (739) Mandeville – X-type asteroid of approximately 53 km radius, identified with the capital and largest town in the parish of Manchester in Middlesex, Jamaica. Correspondences suggest humanity, empathy, courage, and the trial of these that brings essential matters to the fore and bypasses anything less significant; an outstanding event or individual changing the course of the species; unstinting devotion or rectitude.
- (901) Brunsia – S-type asteroid named in honour of Ernst Heinrich Bruns (1848-1919), a German mathematician and astronomer, who also contributed to the development of the field of theoretical geodesy. May relate to knowledge (particularly scientific) and its transmission; proactive learning; a decisive movement towards justice; intelligence or communication skills that lead to improvements and/or solve ongoing problems; generational growth.
- (1566) Icarus – Near-Earth stony asteroid with an extremely eccentric orbit. In 1968, it became the first asteroid ever observed by radar. Lowest numbered potentially hazardous asteroid (PHA). Identified with the son of the great craftsman Daedalus who famously flew too close to the sun. Meanings offered include rash, reckless actions, the exuberance and impetuosity of youth; self-regulation and composure helping to avoid extremes, or the reverse; gaining freedom from physically confining situations, social conformity or (ultimately) samsara.
Squaring Chiron-Eris:
- (486958) Arrokoth – Cubewano and contact binary named after the Powhatan word for ‘sky’ or ‘cloud’. Interpretations given so far include: search processes culminating in laborious review and analysis; interest in the sky, astronomy, astrology, space exploration, astounding phenomena, lack of limits or accountability; the inspiration of the sky and stars, and of looking to them; a guiding light for all scholars of the sky; consideration, compassion, art and the process of creation, reverence, curiosity, a grasp of complexity, transcendence, rationalisation, criticism, wandering or wayward, love of animals; drive to gain love and respect by means of attaining success or greatness, lack of self-confidence, defensive brashness, glamour and charisma possibly alongside shyness, rebellion or fighting for justice, exposing lies, acceptance of fate and limitations.
Theano’s thoughts
Take the time to be thorough and ensure you’ve explored all possibilities, gathered all relevant information, and accounted for the necessary resources, before launching into any decisive motion. There could be more hinging on the details than is obvious at first glance, and efforts to be accurate now will almost certainly save a lot of trouble and energy further down the line. Wherever you lack clarity or feel confused, seek advice from those who know. This may well include checking with your instinctive wisdom, responses and feelings, which are likely just as crucial as any of your data.
